THE PRACTICE

Editorial Discovery + Direction

For founders, brands and places with something worth exploring.

Minimal Instinct: The Practice works closely with people, places and ideas to uncover what is distinctive, meaningful and worth bringing forward.

The same curiosity that drives the publication shapes how we work: looking beyond the obvious, asking better questions, and paying attention to the reasons, nuance and “what else” behind the work.

What we discover can sharpen how a business understands itself, how it is positioned, and how its story is understood by the people it wants to reach.

THE APPROACH

Taste is information.

We pay attention to the things that reveal character: origins, materials, people, rituals, influences, contradictions and the choices that accumulate into a point of view.

Conversation as method.

The most interesting material is often uncovered through genuine conversation — the memory, instinct, tension or unexpected connection that wasn’t visible at first.

The idea determines the form.

Once we understand what is worth saying, we determine how it should exist — editorially, visually, digitally, experientially or otherwise.
